Such a great place! We were in an overwater villa and it was better than we expected. The entire staff was phenomenal and so accomodating. They knew our names and provided excellent customer service. Our server at Azzurro , Laila, was the best! She went above and beyond every day and made our trip even more special. We would highly recommend Angsana Velavaru.

This is by no means a 5* hotel. It's 3.5 star at absolute best. The decor is tired, soft furnishings are outdated, there is no care for the facilities, beach chairs and umbrellas broken, towels are scratchy, fridge is warm, not cold. If you utilise beer or wine from your minibar it is not replenished unless you pay for it although there is the option to walk to the pool bar and have takeaway drinks but as the fridge doesn't cool anything down it's almost pointless. The beach bungalows are semi detached and you can hear everything your next door neighbours are saying, watching on TV or doing. The food options are limited, I was resigned on a couple of lunchtime occasions to take a bread roll, some butter, and make a cheese and tomato sandwich just so I had something other than boiled white rice and curry to eat when the temperature is 33 degrees outside. I didn't mind it in the evening but the same for lunch was too much every day. There is no pasta station, no grill station and no ice-cream station and if you ask in the main restaurant for a bowl of ice-cream you are told it's only for kids!! Service in the main restaurant is poor, most days we had finished our breakfast, lunch or dinner before our coffee, water or beers came. The beer when it did come was warm as was the water. As I say, just felt like there was no care. The service in the pool bar was better but the never ending zen/relaxation music in both restaurants failed to generate any sort of atmosphere. If you don't eat at the limited set mealtimes, there are no opportunities to get snacks outside of these times. Snorkeling off the beach was pointless, we saw 1 black tip reef shark and 2 minnows in 12 days. This was our 2nd visit to the Maldives, last year literally was paradise at Amari Havodda hence returning in 2024 trying a new resort but we couldn't have been more disappointed in the whole experience. I would not recommend this to friends, family or anyone considering the Maldives for a holiday. Your money can be better spent elsewhere.

Absolute paradise. From arrival at the international airport, AV ensured smooth pickup to an exclusive lounge at the seaplane terminal for 5* comfort & rest until transfer to resort was ready. At arrival, fantastic reception & orientation. Our room/villa was superb, just as the brochure suggested - fantastic privacy in our rear garden with pool & at the front the beautiful turquoise sea beckoned. The bar & restaurant had the most excellent & attentive staff, food was great, selection of drinks was superb & they even had cigarettes available to buy at the bar :-). This place, the island and the people who run and manage it are really at the top of their game. A fantastic experience - do ensure you try out the spa ( expensive, but worth it) and their brilliant aquatic centre.

Honeymoon vacation - not a 5 star resort, but a solid 4 star experience

My wife and I spent our honeymoon here. We stayed in the overwater villa. Overall, the resort is a solid 4 star, but definitely not 5 star. Let me explain - - food was 7/10. Good selection and lots of options, but the taste was somewhat bland sometimes. - activities were plentiful, but were highly overpriced compared to other parts of the world and there was no guarantee you'd get what you pay for. For example, shark sightseeing. If you don't see any, you have to pay again to go again, yet still no guarantee. We booked a v-deck experience and tried 3 days in a row, but ended up not being able to go due to weather. - Spa was expensive as well, but very very good. 9/10 - Villa was a 7/10 or 4 star out of 5. I consider ritz carlton, park hyatt, shangri-la 5 star hotels and resorts because they go above and beyond in conveniency, luxury, and comfort. Agsana is a great resort but definetly doesn't reach 5 star. For example, luxury wise, the hotel is a bit outdated, but still nice. comfort was good like the bed and infinty pool, but some basic amenities were missing. For example, no shaver, comb, hygiene packs. Only a toothbrush. I know it's a small detail, but the small attention to detail and focus on conveniency is what makes a hotel 5 stars. Also, the restaraunts didn't have AC, so it was a bit uncomfortable sometimes as the temperature was 30 degrees celcius in April. Additionally, there were a lot of small flies in our room all over the place. This must be fixed. - cleaning was 10/10. the staff were very good and came twice a day. - the bar and restuarant staff were also top notch and I would give them a 10/10 as well - there is a mosque on the island which is nice. 10/10 - the welcome on arrival is perfected and amazing - my biggest complaint is one of the receptionist. Don't want to mention any names, but the girl there needs to learn how to be more welcoming and offer better customer service. She seemed like she didn't like us and never made any effort to go above and beyond. Any request we made was usually turned down even if it was a small request. Other workers always tried there best to go above and beyond. Special ShoutOut: 1. Laila works in the restaurants and is absolutely amazing. She deserves a promotion and is truly incredible at making the whole experience awesome 2. Riaash at reception is also amazing and very helpful. He should be managing the front desk.
